Competition and exhibition "Pictures from the Nanoworld"

Last years' picture exhibition and picture competition were very well received; a total of over 300 pictures were sent in. Therefore, we want to give the aesthetic side of science and the nanoworld its own forum again this year. For this purpose, the most beautiful, artistic and/or original works will be chosen by the participants of the symposium in a picture exhibition.

We invite all participants of the symposium to take part in this exhibition and ask them to send in pictures. You are welcome to send us up to four suitable images per participant. Please include a brief description of one or a few sentences with each image.

There is a great deal of freedom in the selection and type of exhibits, ranging from aesthetically beautiful photographs of nanostructures to impressive illustrations of the smallest worlds to artistic contributions to the topic.

Please also pass on this invitation to your working group. The best three contributions will each receive an award. The awards, which also include prize money for the entrants, will then be presented to the winners at the symposium on Wednesday, 11. December 2024. The best entries will be selected democratically by a vote of all participants during the symposium in Bad Herrenalb on 10. December 2024.

As the pictures are to be printed in large format (at least DIN A2), they should be as high-resolution as possible. Since in this case the aesthetic impression takes precedence over data authenticity, image editing and, if necessary, interpolation to increase the resolution are expressly permitted. Please ensure that you own all image rights and confirm this when submitting images.

Please send your contributions in advance

in electronic form to the office (intern) and let us know whether you will bring the pictures to the workshop yourself or whether you would like us to do this for you.

We are looking forward to receiving numerous exciting submissions.

With best regards,

Thomas Schimmel, Hilbert v. Löhneysen, and Matthias Barczewski
